Montreal Standard

The Montreal Standard was a newspaper in Montreal, Quebec from 1905-1951 and founded by Hugh Graham, 1st Baron Atholstan[1][2]. It began in 1905 as a Saturday-only newspaper on the model of the Illustrated London News; that is, current events using photographs and news stories. The Standard became more of a feature-oriented weekly over its history. Graham sold the paper along with other media interest to John Wilson McConnell. In 1951 its publishers, who also owned the Montreal Star started a new Weekend Magazine, and the Standard was ended and its staff transferred.
